Alene has written a monthly column for the Triton Newspaper since 2008, and is a course writer and GUEST approved instructor at Maritime Professional Training in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Alene grew up in the small town of Lansing, Iowa enjoying warm, beautiful summers on the Mississippi River. After her family relocated to Wyoming, she attended college in Laramie. A Semester Abroad led her to St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands where she completed a BA in Musical Theater.
Her yachting career began in St. Thomas where she started out as a crew chef on a 52M vessel. Alene went onto to spend 22 years as stewardess in yachting, with14 years in a Chief Stewardess role.
In 2007 Alene began consulting and training worldwide. From Istanbul to Norway to the Caribbean and New England, her love for teaching and travel have continued. In 2011 she published her first training manual as an eBook, and is the author of The Yacht Guru’s Bible: The Service Manual for Every Yacht.
Alene’s passion for improving the yachting experience by elevating service standards onboard continues along with her dedication to training and mentoring the next generation of service professionals.
